Tanzania Mainland champions Yanga begin their campaign to secure a place in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) group stage today when they face Madagascar's CFFA.
The first-leg encounter will kick off at 3:00 p.m. at Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
This is the first 90 minutes of a 180-minute battle for a group-stage place, with the Wananchi chasing a record fourth consecutive qualification for the competition's group stage.
The match is expected to be a tough contest, with both teams targeting progression to the group stage. However, Yanga will have little room for excuses if they fail to advance, especially considering they have the advantage of playing both legs at home.
Yanga have also had sufficient time to prepare for the encounter following their previous match, a defeat against their traditional rivals Simba in the NBC Mainland Premier League.
Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has had a full week to prepare his squad for the match.
Yanga supporters will be hoping to see their team secure a convincing victory today and put themselves in a strong position to reach the group stage when the two sides meet again at Azam Complex on October 21.
