Tanzania champions Yanga SC are expected to return to competitive action after the FIFA international break facing a demanding schedule of five matches in 17 days, including the traditional clash against Simba SC and two CAF Champions League fixtures.
Yanga will begin the run on October 10 against traditional rivals Simba SC in an NBC Premier League match scheduled for 7:00pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
After the Kariakoo Derby, Yanga will have little time to rest, as they will travel on October 13 to face TRA United in another league match scheduled for a 4:00pm kick-off at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.
The schedule will continue on October 17, when Yanga switch their attention to continental competition for the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie against Madagascar’s CFFA.
The first leg will be played away, with reports indicating that the match will take place in Mauritius, before the two teams meet again on October 24 at Azam Complex.
The return leg against CFFA will be important for Yanga’s CAF Champions League campaign, with the squad expected to take advantage of playing in front of their home supporters in the second leg.
After completing their CAF Champions League commitments, Yanga will return to the Mainland Premier League on October 27 to host Mashujaa FC in a match scheduled for a 6:30pm kick-off.
With this schedule, Yanga will play five matches in a short period, requiring thorough squad preparations given the run of domestic league and continental fixtures.
The schedule also means the technical bench will have to manage player usage carefully, particularly because of the short turnaround between one match and the next.
