After Yanga's previous Premier League match against JKT Tanzania, head coach Manqoba Mngqithi did not hesitate to assess the performance of youngster Juma Abushiri, popularly known as Chuga Boy.
Mngqithi said he was not particularly impressed by what he saw from Chuga Boy in that match, while advising the youngster on areas he needed to work on to continue improving his performance.
The comments came at a time when 18-year-old Chuga Boy, who joined Yanga in the previous transfer window from Fountain Gate, is still gaining experience as one of the young players being given opportunities to showcase his potential.
However, during yesterday's press conference ahead of today's match against Fountain Gate FC, Chuga Boy was asked how he had received Mngqithi's comments.
The youngster refused to allow the coach's remarks to discourage him. Instead, he viewed them as part of his learning journey and an opportunity to develop further.
Speaking about the matter, Chuga Boy said:
“First, I took it positively because I knew it would help me grow. I am still a young player and I have a lot of time to learn. If I had taken it negatively, it would not have helped me. However, I got another opportunity in the second match and I showed what I can do,” Chuga said.
Chuga Boy could have the opportunity today to face his former club Fountain Gate in a match scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
