Yanga Deny Claims Seleman Mwalimu Is Blocked by Simba

Yanga SC Head of Information and Communications Ali Kamwe has dismissed reports and rumours claiming that striker Seleman Mwalimu has been prevented from playing against Simba SC because of demands for reimbursement of expenses incurred in their efforts to sign him on loan from Wydad AC.

Kamwe said Mwalimu is a legitimate Yanga SC player and that his registration is under the club, explaining that his absence from the team's matches is purely a technical matter related to his preparation.

He said Mwalimu joined Yanga towards the end of their pre-season preparations, meaning head coach Manqoba Mngqithi is still working on his development and preparing him for an opportunity to play.

“That matter involves FIFA Connect. I can speak about it, but the person with the accurate information is the League Board spokesperson. I cannot keep denying falsehoods every day,” Kamwe said.

He added:

“The player belongs to Yanga and his licence is registered with Yanga. Why hasn't he played? It is a technical matter. Sele joined Yanga late, which means there are still things the coach is working on.”

Kamwe urged Yanga fans not to worry about the situation, stressing that Mwalimu is a Yanga player and that the decision on when to field him rests with the technical bench.

“I just want to tell Yanga fans not to fall into these traps. The important thing is that Sele is our player; what remains is for the coach to give him an opportunity,” he said.

Gamal Joins Singida Black Stars on Loan

In another development, Kamwe confirmed that defender Abdulnasir Mohamad ‘Gamal’ has joined Singida Black Stars on loan.

He said Gamal trained with the Yanga squad during pre-season, but due to the competition for places within the team, the coach recommended that the player move to a club where he would have greater playing opportunities while continuing to be monitored.

“Gamal trained with the team during pre-season. Because of his quality, the coach recommended that he get more playing time. He advised the management to find him a team where he could play regularly so that the coach could continue monitoring him. That is why Gamal has joined Singida Black Stars on loan,” Kamwe explained.

Damaro Returns to Singida BS

Kamwe also clarified the situation involving midfielder Mohamed Damaro, who had been at Yanga on loan from Singida Black Stars.

According to Kamwe, Damaro returned to Singida after the club requested the player's return while the transfer window was still open.

“Damaro joined Yanga on loan. Up until Mwananchi Day, his loan registration was still with Yanga, but later Singida, who own the player, told us they needed him back. We agreed because the transfer window was still open,” he said.
