Young Africans SC President Hersi Said has called on those who took the 2025 Community Shield trophy to return it, insisting that football trophies should be earned through victories on the pitch and not through any other means.
Speaking at the club's General Meeting earlier today, Hersi said the disappearance of the trophy occurred while the club was celebrating its achievements.
"While we were celebrating our championship success, some people stole the 2025 Community Shield. If someone has it, they should return it. A trophy is won through competition on the pitch," Hersi said.
He added that the trophy was manufactured in Tanzania, and the club has already taken steps to have a replacement made.
"Fortunately, it was made right here in Tanzania, so we have already ordered for another one to be produced," he said.
Hersi also issued a direct appeal to those responsible for the disappearance of the trophy to return it, emphasizing the importance of fair competition in football.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to tell those who took this trophy to return it. Bring back the Shield. This title is earned by winning on the pitch, not by stealing," Hersi said.
Yanga won the 2025 Community Shield after defeating Simba 1-0 in a match played on September 16, 2025, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
