Yanga Leave Door Open for Potential Aziz Ki Return

Attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki could be on his way back to Yanga, although several obstacles remain before any reunion can become a reality.

Reports indicate that Aziz Ki is interested in returning to Jangwani after a difficult spell with Libyan club Al Ittihad. However, Yanga officials have made it clear that they are not willing to pay to terminate the player's existing contract with the club.

Instead, the Tanzanian champions have reportedly told the Burkina Faso international to first resolve his contractual situation with his current employers before any formal discussions about a return can begin.

There is little doubt about Aziz Ki's legacy at Yanga. During his three seasons with the club, he established himself as one of the most influential players in the team's recent history, helping elevate the club's profile both domestically and internationally.

In the 2022/23 season, Aziz Ki finished as the Tanzania Premier League's top scorer with 21 goals and played a crucial role in Yanga's run to the CAF Confederation Cup final. His creativity, goals, and leadership made him one of the standout midfielders in East and Central Africa.

Because of that contribution, Yanga's leadership has not completely closed the door on a possible return. The club appears willing to consider bringing him back if he becomes a free agent.

Security concerns and family-related issues are reportedly among the main reasons behind the player's desire to leave Libya. Since marrying Tanzanian model Hamisa Mobetto, it is believed that his current environment has not provided the stability he desires.

After leaving Yanga in 2025 to join Wydad Casablanca, Aziz Ki struggled to replicate the form that made him a star in Tanzania. His time in Morocco was followed by a move to Al Ittihad, but he has yet to rediscover his previous levels of performance.

Statistics show that after scoring 39 goals across three seasons with Yanga, Aziz Ki managed only one goal during his spell with Wydad before moving to Libya.

For now, Yanga remain interested, but any potential return will likely depend on Aziz Ki first securing his release and becoming available on a free transfer.
