Zimbabwe's national team secured a third-place finish at the Unity Cup 2026 after defeating India 1-0 in the third-place playoff match played in London, England.
The hero for Zimbabwe was Young Africans SC striker Prince Dube, who scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.
The penalty was awarded after Indian player Farukh Choudhary fouled Washington Navaya inside the penalty area. Dube made no mistake from the spot, calmly converting the chance to give Zimbabwe a lead they maintained until the final whistle.
The match, played at The Valley Stadium in London, was highly competitive, but Zimbabwe appeared to be the stronger side, particularly throughout much of the first half where they created several scoring opportunities. India pushed for an equalizer in the second half but were unable to break through Zimbabwe's disciplined defense.
The victory ensured that Zimbabwe finished the 2026 Unity Cup in third place, while India ended the tournament in fourth position after failing to score a goal throughout the competition.
