A surprising moment unfolded yesterday when the Singida Black Stars technical bench decided to substitute goalkeeper Metacha Mnata in the 15th minute after conceding a free-kick goal scored by Allan Okello.
The incident raised many questions because Metacha is certainly not the first goalkeeper to concede such a goal. Even some of the world’s best goalkeepers have been beaten by similar strikes.
Okello executed the free kick brilliantly, catching the goalkeeper off guard with a perfectly placed effort through a narrow gap in the defensive wall — an area Metacha likely did not expect the ball to pass through.
