Yanga captain Bakari Nondo Mwamnyeto has returned to the squad after missing the CRDB Cup quarter-final match against JKT Tanzania, as the club continues its push to defend both the NBC Premier League and CRDB Cup titles.
Mwamnyeto was granted special leave following Yanga’s 3-2 defeat to Dodoma Jiji in their previous league match.
After facing heavy criticism and online backlash following that defeat, the experienced captain has now returned to lead the team once again. Supporters and club insiders have emphasized that difficult moments are part of football and that players, like everyone else, go through challenging periods.
It is widely viewed that the Dodoma Jiji match was simply a bad day at the office for the defender, who is now focused on delivering stronger performances moving forward.
Mwamnyeto has been one of Yanga’s most reliable defenders for nearly five seasons, and one difficult match is not expected to diminish his legacy or importance to the club.
Yanga have also received another positive boost with the return of full-back Israel Mwenda, who had been sidelined due to injury problems.
Mwenda last featured for Yanga in the league derby against Simba at Isamuhyo Stadium, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
