It will be a Dar es Salaam derby week, as just three days after that encounter, on June 24, Yanga and Azam FC will meet again in an NBC Premier League match.
Yanga have set a remarkable record in this season’s CRDB Cup, with the club chasing a fifth consecutive title.
The team has played 28 matches in the competition without suffering a defeat. In simple terms, Yanga have won 28 straight matches in the knockout-format tournament.
If they manage to win the trophy this season, they will set a historic record that could take a long time to be broken, as they would have played 30 matches without defeat, meaning a perfect winning run throughout the season.
Despite the demanding fixture schedule ahead, Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has stated that the team will approach each match according to its importance, with the goal of defending both the league and CRDB Cup titles.
