Yanga SC Communications Manager Ali Kamwe has said that the club’s sponsor Ghalib Said Mohammed (GSM) is not driven by greed in his investment in the club’s stadium project.
Yesterday, Yanga signed an agreement to construct a stadium in the Jangwani area that will accommodate approximately 20,000 fans. Under the deal, GSM will provide funding on a 50-50 basis with Yanga, which has contributed the land for the project.
Speaking during the event, Kamwe praised GSM for his commitment without showing any desire for greater ownership of the stadium, noting that he could have demanded a much larger share.
“You know at times a person can be greedy, but GSM is very different. Look at him—he only wants 50 percent, yet someone else could have demanded even 80 percent ownership, leaving the club with just 20,” said Kamwe.
“We at Yanga thank you for your heart. You are teaching us to avoid greed in life. I believe GSM does not want complications. There is his slogan ‘Yanga bingwa,’ but today we can add another phrase: he has no greed.”
Following the signing of the agreement yesterday, construction work officially began today. Once the necessary permits are fully secured, Yanga fans are expected to witness ongoing development at Jangwani at any time.
The stadium is expected to be completed within 18 to 20 months and will be officially opened for use upon completion.
