Yanga Head Coach Pedro Goncalves says preparations for his team ahead of the upcoming Mainland Premier League match against Simba are progressing well.
Goncalves stated that final preparations will be completed today, and he has assured Yanga fans to expect a different performance from the team on Sunday.
"We have had three days of preparation ahead of the Sunday match. This is a league game, so we have prepared with a different plan."
"Today we will complete our final tactical preparations. We are disappointed we did not get a good result in the previous match, but I believe we are on the right path heading into the next game."
"We are very hopeful and confident of doing well tomorrow. I believe our fans will come in large numbers to support us. This is an important opportunity for us to extend the points gap at the top of the table to eight points against our rivals," said Goncalves.
Speaking about the previous match, Goncalves said that despite failing to win, he was satisfied with the performance shown by his players.
He assured Yanga fans that the team is ready and will approach Sunday’s match with a different strategy in order to secure all three points.
Goncalves also expressed disappointment at missing midfielder Mudathir Yahya, who was suspended just days before the match.
The Portuguese coach also questioned the suspension of Mudathir in circumstances where Simba striker Suleiman Mwalimu was not punished until after the Kariakoo derby was played.
However, Goncalves said it will not be the first time playing without Mudathir, and he will rely on other available players to step up and fill the gap.
