Simba secured a 1-0 victory over Yanga in the Muungano Cup final played at the New Amaan Complex.
A dramatic penalty in the 120th minute ended Yanga’s hopes of winning the trophy for a second consecutive season.
In an attempt to clear danger, winger Edmund John fouled Clatous Chama inside the penalty area, prompting the referee to award a spot-kick. Suleiman Mwalimu stepped up and converted the penalty to seal the win for Simba.
It was a tightly contested match throughout the full 120 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes of extra time played after the game ended goalless in regulation time.
The final demanded a winner, and this time it was Simba who emerged victorious, ending Yanga’s run of strong results in recent derby encounters.
