Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has expressed confidence that the team is fully prepared to defend their Muungano Cup title for a second consecutive season, as they aim to win their semi-final match against Azam FC.
Recently, Yanga defeated Muembe Makumbi 4-0 to secure a place in the semi-finals, where the defending champions will face Azam FC in what is expected to be a Dar es Salaam derby.
"We are well prepared, and our goal is to defend this Muungano Cup title for the second season in a row."
"To all our fans planning to travel to Zanzibar, I urge you to come with enough money to stay here until the final," Kamwe said confidently.
If Yanga manage to defeat Azam FC in the semi-final match set for Saturday at the New Amaan Complex, there is a possibility of an early Kariakoo Derby in Zanzibar—provided Simba also win their semi-final clash against Mlandege FC on Sunday.
On May 3, Simba and Yanga are scheduled to face each other in a highly anticipated Premier League Kariakoo Derby, eagerly awaited by football fans across the country.
