Yanga SC attacking midfielder Allan Okello has said it would be a big mistake to underestimate their opponents, TMA Stars, ahead of their CRDB Federation Cup quarter-final qualification clash set for Saturday at KMC Complex.
Okello urged his teammates to maintain the strong form they have shown in recent league matches, expressing confidence that they have every reason to win the game given the quality within their squad.
He noted that TMA Stars have nothing to lose in the match, but it would be major news if Yanga were to lose and be eliminated from the competition.
"Our opponents have nothing to lose in tomorrow’s match. If we lose, it will definitely become big news. It is our responsibility as players to stay focused on our main objectives."
"We should not underestimate them at all. Football requires respect for every opponent. The same energy we use against Premier League teams must be applied here to show the difference."
"I am very confident that if we maintain the morale from our previous match, we will secure a convincing win. As players, we must stay calm on the pitch and follow the instructions of our coaches."
"We have a duty to fight for the Yanga badge. Just one mistake in a knockout match can change history. This is not the league. I assure the fans that we will settle everything within 90 minutes," he said.
