A dominant second-half performance was enough to secure Yanga a crucial 3-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons in an NBC Premier League match played at the KMC Complex.
Despite controlling the first 45 minutes, Yanga were unable to break down Tanzania Prisons’ defense, with the visitors holding firm under sustained pressure to go into halftime level.
However, Yanga changed their attacking approach in the second half, utilizing width and delivering balls from the flanks.
Allan Okello “Star Boy” opened the scoring in the 50th minute, finishing off a cross from Israel Mwenda.
After conceding, Tanzania Prisons pushed forward in search of an equalizer, which opened up more space for Yanga.
That allowed Yanga to double their lead in the 68th minute through Mudathir Yahya, who finished a pass from Allan Okello. Pacome Zouzoua, who earlier had a goal disallowed for offside, sealed the victory in the 86th minute after dribbling past Prisons goalkeeper Moussa Mbissa, following a through pass from Duke Abuya.
The win marks an important return to form for Yanga, ending their 270-minute winless run.
Yanga have now strengthened their position at the top of the league standings, reaching 41 points.
