Yanga striker Laurindo Aurelio “Depu” continued his impressive scoring form yesterday after netting the only goal in Yanga’s Premier League victory against Tanzania Prisons.
In the match played at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, the Wananchi secured a 1–0 win to strengthen their position at the top of the league table with a seven-point lead.
Depu, who was also named Man of the Match, scored the decisive goal in the 78th minute after finishing a rebound from Tanzania Prisons goalkeeper Mussa Mbissa.
The goal was Depu’s sixth in the league, bringing him level with fellow striker Prince Dube. It should be noted that Depu joined Yanga at the end of January during the mid-season transfer window and has been scoring at an impressive rate almost every match.
Overall, he has now scored 11 goals in the 10 matches he has played across all competitions.
This could turn out to be a remarkable season for Depu, as he now needs only two more goals to catch Namungo FC striker Fabrice Ngoy, who currently leads the NBC Premier League scoring chart.
