Prince Dube to Miss JKT Clash as Yanga Provide Injury Updates

Yanga striker Prince Dube is expected to miss today’s Premier League match against JKT Tanzania at the KMC Complex.

Dube suffered a minor ankle injury during the CRDB Cup match against Cosmopolitan. Yanga’s team doctor, Moses Etutu, confirmed that the injury is not serious and only requires rest. The player has been given 10 days off to recover.

While Dube continues his recovery, Etutu has confirmed that attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua — who was given a week’s rest after injuring his shoulder in the CAF Champions League match against JS Kabylie — is now ready to return to the squad.

However, Etutu stated that Yanga will still be without Clement Mzize, Edmund John, and Aziz Andabwile, who are also dealing with injuries.

“Dube had a slight ankle problem. It’s a minor injury that has forced us to give him 10 days or two matches of rest so that he can return to the pitch quickly.

“His injury is not serious and does not require further treatment — just a short rest period to regain full fitness. That is why he did not travel for the Namungo match,” Etutu was quoted as saying.

Regarding Pacome, Etutu explained that he injured his left shoulder while contesting for the ball with the JS Kabylie goalkeeper. The injury typically requires about one week of recovery, a period that has now elapsed.

“I believe that time has now passed. It will depend on the coach whether to use him immediately or give him more rest to ensure he returns 100% fit. We expect to see him back on the pitch very soon,” he added.

Speaking about Mzize, Etutu revealed that the striker had returned after successful knee surgery and even featured briefly in the away match against AS FAR Rabat. However, while preparing for the return leg against JS Kabylie, he suffered another setback. Tests have been conducted, and he is set to begin a special training program soon.

“After his knee surgery, which went well, he returned to action and played a few minutes against AS FAR Rabat. Later, during preparations for the second leg, he experienced a minor issue. Tests have been done, and he is expected to start a special training program soon,” the doctor said.

On Edmund John, Etutu explained that the player dislocated his left shoulder during preparations for the JS Kabylie match. Such injuries typically require about three weeks of recovery. He is currently training individually.

“Those three weeks help the player recover before returning to physical contact and potential falls that could cause internal pain. He is currently doing individual training,” he stated.

As for Andabwile, the doctor said he injured his thumb while attempting to strike the ball. Tests confirmed it is a minor issue that should take about five days for him to return to full fitness.
