Mixed reactions have emerged from some fans who were not fully satisfied with Yanga’s performance despite their 1-0 victory over :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2} in the NBC Premier League match played at Majaliwa Stadium.
Speaking after the game, the club’s Information and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said they were aware that facing Namungo would not be easy and emphasized that the most important thing was securing all three points.
Kamwe urged supporters to shift their focus to the upcoming league clash against :contentReference[oaicite:3]{index=3}, stressing that it will also be a difficult encounter.
“You are heading into a Derby, then you face Namungo coached by Juma Mgunda — if you get three points, say Alhamdulillah. The big people will understand me,” said Kamwe.
“We still have a tough task against JKT Tanzania. These two matches are harder than the Derby itself because they attract so much attention,” he added.
After completing their CAF Champions League fixture against JS Kabylie in Zanzibar on February 15, Yanga returned to domestic action three days later at KMC Complex against Cosmopolitan in the CRDB Bank Cup.
They then traveled to Ruangwa, where they played Namungo and managed to walk away with three vital points.
Yanga return to Dar es Salaam today and will face league leaders JKT Tanzania at KMC Complex on Wednesday. While Yanga navigate a congested fixture schedule, JKT Tanzania have had ample time to prepare for the clash.
JKT Tanzania have shown strong form this season and are expected to provide a stern test for the reigning champions.
