Yanga’s versatile midfielder Duke Abuya has continued to impress this season, emerging as a key figure involved in many decisive moments whenever he is on the pitch.
In the recent CAF Champions League match against JS Kabylie, Abuya was deployed as a defensive midfielder, yet he was everywhere on the field—contributing both when the team was defending and when pushing forward in attack.
He initiated the move that led to Yanga’s third goal, delivering a penetrating pass to Prince Dube, who then set up Chadrack Boka to score and seal a 3–0 victory for Yanga.
Throughout the Champions League campaign, Abuya has been the cornerstone of Yanga’s midfield. Even in the NBC Premier League, he remains a crucial player under coach Pedro Goncalves. He currently leads the league in assists with four to his name.
Notably, despite being used in many matches as a defensive midfielder, Abuya has still made a significant impact in the attacking third, underlining his importance and all-round influence in the team.
