Yanga SC have benefited greatly from the signing of defensive midfielder Mohamed Damaro Camara, who joined the club during the mid-season transfer window from Singida Black Stars.
Damaro arrived at Yanga at a time when the club was facing challenges in midfield following the departure of Khalid Aucho, whose contract expired before he later joined Singida Black Stars.
During the main transfer window, Yanga signed Moussa Balla Conte to fill that role, but the player failed to convince the technical bench, forcing the club to return to the market during the mid-season window.
The midfielder began to show his qualities early on during the Mapinduzi Cup held in Zanzibar, where he was part of the Yanga squad that lifted the trophy after defeating Azam FC 5–4 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
Since arriving at Jangwani, Damaro has established himself as an important member of coach Pedro Goncalves’ squad, in contrast to his time at Singida Black Stars, where he did not enjoy regular starts in the first team.
His performances have continued to stand out in high-stakes matches, including CAF Champions League group-stage games against Al Ahly, as well as NBC Premier League fixtures, where he has displayed solidity, discipline, strong tackling ability, and reliable passing.
Damaro’s effectiveness has given Yanga stability in midfield, a development that contributed to the club loaning out Moussa Balla Conte, who joined Morocco’s Raja Casablanca.
Currently, Damaro Camara remains a key pillar in Yanga’s midfield, making a significant contribution to coach Pedro Goncalves’ tactical plans this season.
