Yanga’s CAF Champions League opponents, Al Ahly, have arrived in Zanzibar today ahead of their highly anticipated clash scheduled for Saturday, January 31.
Al Ahly touched down without their influential midfielder Emam Ashour, who was notably absent when the team departed Egypt.
Reports from Egyptian media sources have confirmed that Ashour—who posed a major threat to Yanga in the previous meeting due to his dominance in midfield—has been suspended for two weeks and fined. This follows his decision to skip the trip to Tanzania with the rest of the squad.
While Al Ahly are dealing with internal issues, Yanga continue to focus on their preparations, completing their second day of training in Zanzibar today.
The Wananchi are not distracted by the off-field drama surrounding their opponents and are instead preparing to face a full-strength Al Ahly side, fully aware of the Egyptian giants’ rich history and pedigree in African football.
