As the future of midfielder Moussa Balla Conte remains in the hands of Yanga’s management, head coach Pedro Gonçalves has reassigned his role on the pitch.
During the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar, Gonçalves has been deploying Conte in the central defense position.
In the semifinal match against Singida Black Stars, Conte played the full 90 minutes at center-back, forming a solid partnership with Frank Assink.
Gonçalves appeared impressed by Conte’s performance in that role and may opt to use him again in the final against Azam FC.
Following the signing of Mohamed Damaro Camara, Conte’s opportunities in midfield have become limited, with reports indicating that the club’s management has held discussions with him regarding a possible loan move.
However, there has been some disagreement, as Conte has reportedly requested the termination of his contract so he can leave the club as a free agent.
