Yanga head coach Pedro Gonçalves has said his squad is fully prepared to secure victory in the Mapinduzi Cup semifinal match against Singida BS, scheduled to be played tomorrow, Friday.
Speaking to the media earlier today, Gonçalves said the match will not be easy, as it brings together four of the best teams in the country.
Despite the challenge, Gonçalves expressed confidence that his players will fight hard and achieve their objective of qualifying for the final.
“Tomorrow we are playing against one of the best teams here in Tanzania. I believe all the best teams have qualified for the semifinal stage, and now what remains is for us to focus on ourselves so that we can win, because our main objective is to qualify for the final,” said Gonçalves.
“We are here to give opportunities to all our players to showcase their abilities, and also to give new players a chance to adapt to our system and environment. We know Singida will give us a tough match, but I believe that in tomorrow’s game we will perform well.”
“We have a large squad that can compete and I believe it will deliver results. It is true that some key players are unavailable and others are injured, but those we have are very capable—that is why they are here. Without a doubt, they are ready for tomorrow’s challenge. We are here to win,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of his teammates, fast-rising young defender Abubakar Nizar Othman “Ninju” said all players are ready for the match and will fight to ensure they emerge victorious.
“As players, we have prepared well and we are ready. We understand the importance of tomorrow’s match. We are playing against Singida, a strong team that competes with us in the same league on the mainland. The key thing is for us to follow the coach’s instructions in order to get the win,” he said.
“We are also taking great precautions because tomorrow’s match is very important. We are focused on avoiding mistakes that could cost us. We know they are also cautious because they understand Yanga. I ask our fans to come out in large numbers tomorrow so that we can celebrate together,” he added.
