Yanga booked their place in the Mapinduzi Cup semifinals in emphatic fashion after securing a 1–0 victory over TRA United in a match played at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.
The only goal of the match was scored by Ecua Celestin, who finished off a pass from Maxi Nzengeli.
TRA United put up a strong fight, withstanding sustained pressure from the Mainland Tanzania champions.
TRA United created several chances in the closing stages, but the solidity of goalkeeper Aboutwalib Mshery and Yanga’s defensive line ensured the Wananchi held on for the win.
Yanga will now face Singida Black Stars in the semifinal match scheduled for January 9.
