Yanga fans are still asking what really happened in the last transfer window that led to the departure of their beloved midfielder Khalid Aucho, popularly known as the “doctor of the ball,” who went on to join Singida Big Stars.
There is also a large section of supporters who would like to see the midfielder return to Yanga, especially in the upcoming mini transfer window, believing that the gap he left has not yet been fully filled.
Yanga president Engineer Hersi Said has admitted that it was not an easy situation and not something he personally wished to happen, but acknowledged that in football, some situations are unavoidable.
“Aucho is the best midfielder ever to come out of East Africa. If it were possible, I would say I wish Aucho, still a young man, could be in my team for the next 20 years,”
“I would have loved him to play for Yanga for a long time. Personally, I was not happy and did not want him to leave, but it’s something that just happened,” Hersi said.
Aucho signed a two-year contract with Singida Big Stars after talks to renew his deal with Yanga failed to reach an agreement.
Yanga were ready to offer Aucho a one-year contract with an option to extend for a second year at the end of the season, but the Uganda Cranes captain wanted a straight two-year deal.
Despite leaving Yanga, Aucho has maintained a good relationship with the club’s management, and it would not be surprising to see him return to Wananchi for a second spell.
