Yanga have been linked with a move for Vipers FC and Uganda national team attacking midfielder Allan Okello.
Okello is currently part of the Uganda Cranes squad competing in AFCON 2025 in Morocco, placed in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Nigeria.
It is reported that Yanga President, Engineer Hersi Said, is quietly working on a deal to secure the talented midfielder’s signature, using former Yanga player and current Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho as an intermediary.
Okello is also being targeted by Simba, who attempted to sign him during the previous transfer window without success.
Information from within the club leadership suggests that negotiations to land the creative midfielder are progressing well.
“Things are going well with him. You know Okello is very creative despite his small physique. If we manage to get him, it will be a big step forward for our squad,” a source was quoted by Mwanaspoti.
Yanga head coach Pedro Gonçalves has recommended strengthening the attacking midfield (number 10) position in a report submitted to the club’s management.
Last season, Yanga lost Stephane Aziz Ki in that role after he moved to Wydad CA, while Clatous Chama also departed to join Singida Black Stars.
Mohamed Doumbia, signed as Aziz Ki’s replacement, has yet to fully prove himself in the role, having neither provided an assist nor scored so far.
On several occasions this season, Mudathir Yahya has been deployed in that position, but he too has been troubled by recurring injuries.
