Yanga right-back Yao Kouassi has already begun taking part in team training, a positive sign ahead of his return to the squad when the mid-season transfer window opens on January 1.
Despite medical reports initially indicating that he was expected to return to action at the end of January 2026, his progress has provided renewed optimism.
“Yao has started fitness training after successfully completing his medical rehabilitation program,” said Yanga Media Officer Ali Kamwe.
“He has already begun integrating with the team, which is a sign that the player has regained strength and can be available for selection.
“The doctor’s schedule showed that we should wait until the end of January or early February before using him, but from how we see him now—how he is training with his teammates and how he is playing—we feel he is ready,” Kamwe added.
Meanwhile, striker Clement Mzize is continuing with a special rehabilitation training program and is expected to begin light training within the next two weeks.
