Just two matches have been enough to secure centre-back Frank Assink a spot in Yanga’s squad, with the defender—who is on loan from Singida Black Stars—impressing under coach Pedro Gonçalves.
Gonçalves gave Assink a chance in the last two league matches against Fountain Gate and Coastal Union, where he played the full 90 minutes in both encounters.
The composure, discipline and defensive quality he displayed not only impressed Gonçalves, but also delighted Yanga fans who expressed satisfaction with his performance.
It is now clear that Assink is likely to remain in the coach’s plans, and the technical bench may be forced to recommend removing another foreign player from the squad to make room for Yao Kouassi, who is now 100% fit after recovering from injury.
