Yanga shone at the KMC Complex today, claiming a 2β0 victory over Fountain Gate in the ongoing NBC Premier League.
It was a tactically driven match in which Yanga started slowly but went into halftime leading 1β0, thanks to a penalty converted by Prince Dube after a Fountain Gate defender handled the ball inside the penalty area.
In the second half, Fountain Gate appeared more composed, while Yanga continued to search for a second goal. It was Pacome Zouzoua, who came on as a substitute, who scored the second goal, finishing off a pass from Duke Abuya.
You could say the Citizens were not at the same intensity seen in recent matches, possibly due to fatigue from a tight schedule and the long trip back from Algeria.
Additionally, Yanga coach Pedro Goncalves said that the scorching sun significantly affected the performance of his players.
He added that the team will now have time to rest and regroup ahead of their next match against Coastal Union on Sunday.
