The Yanga squad arrived early today in Zanzibar as they begin their final preparations ahead of the first group-stage match of the CAF Champions League against AS FAR Rabat of Morocco. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 22 at the New Amaan Complex Stadium.
The Tanzanian champions held their first training session this evening upon arrival, with head coach Pedro Gonçalves expressing great optimism about his teamâs readiness for the crucial encounter.
Gonçalves noted that despite having only a few days remaining before the match, the technical bench is working tirelessly to build the playersâ mental readiness and tactical sharpness based on the quality and style of their opponents, AS FAR.
âWe truly have only a few days, but we have experienced players. I believe those returning from national team duties will arrive safely and on time. We will work on their psychological readiness and add tactical adjustments as much as time allows so they can face our opponents effectively,â said Gonçalves.
Yanga arrived in Zanzibar without several key players who were away on international duty, though club sources say they are expected to join the team at any moment.
Those players are Celestine Ecua, Lassine Kouma, Prince Dube, Duke Abuya of Kenya, and first-choice goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
Saturdayâs match is highly anticipated, with Yanga fans eager to see how their team will begin its group-stage campaign against the Moroccan giants.
