It is now certain that right-back Yao Kouassi is ready to return to the squad after recovering from injury and resuming full team training.
Yao has not featured since April this year after suffering a knee problem that required surgery, which kept him out for nearly six months.
That situation also led Yanga’s management to omit him from the list of players registered for various competitions.
However, now that he has recovered, he is counting down the days, as Yanga can officially reinstate him into the squad when the mid-season transfer window opens on December 15.
Apart from reinforcing the defensive line, a member of the technical bench has revealed that Yanga may also strengthen their striking department, which currently depends on Prince Dube and Andy Boyeli while Clement Mzize remains injured.
Dube has had a slow start to the season, while Boyeli impressed in the last league match by scoring twice, but overall the department’s efficiency is still unsatisfactory.
Rumors have linked Yanga with Stade Malien striker Taddeus Nkeng Fomakwang, who could join the club once the transfer window opens.
The defensive midfield area is also said to require upgrades, especially after Moussa Balla Conte failed to meet expectations.
At the moment Yanga are forced to rely on Duke Abuya in that role, working alongside Aziz Andabwile, who started the season well before losing his spot following the departure of coach Romain Folz and the arrival of Pedro Gonçalves.
Yanga must return to the market to find a replacement for Khalid Aucho, who joined Singida BS after failing to agree new contract terms with the club.
The attacking midfield position may also be reinforced, a role currently heavily dependent on Mohamed Doumbia.
