Yanga midfielder Mudathir Yahya has added to the team’s growing injury list after picking up an injury during the match against Silver Strikers.
Mudathir played for approximately 24 minutes in the game, which Yanga won 2–0 to secure qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage.
Since sustaining the injury, Mudathir has not featured for the team. Initial medical tests revealed a knee problem, and he may require surgery.
“Since he got injured against Silver Strikers, he hasn’t returned. Initial tests showed a knee issue,” said a source.
“He has undergone further medical examinations, and the team is now awaiting an expert report to determine the extent of the injury and the appropriate treatment—whether it will require rest or surgery, as the player continues to experience severe pain,” the source added.
Mudathir has remained an important part of Yanga’s squad this season, despite competition in midfield from new signings Mohamed Doumbia, Lassine Kouma, and Moussa Balla Conte. However, the injury has kept him from regular appearances on the field.
If surgery is required, Yanga could be without him for several weeks, potentially missing the early group-stage matches of the CAF Champions League against AS FAR and JS Kabylie later this month.
