Yesterday, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) announced that Singida Black Stars coach, Miguel Angel Gamondi from Argentina, has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Tanzania national football team, *Taifa Stars*.
Gamondi takes over from Hemed Suleiman ‘Morocco,’ whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement between both parties.
According to the statement released by TFF, discussions were held between the federation and Singida Black Stars regarding Gamondi’s new role. It was confirmed that the former Yanga coach will lead Taifa Stars at the upcoming AFCON finals to be held in Morocco starting this December.
Gamondi previously coached Yanga for one and a half seasons, during which he achieved major success by winning all domestic trophies — the Community Shield, the Premier League, and the CRDB Cup — and guiding Yanga to the CAF Champions League group stage and quarterfinals for the first time in 25 years.
This season, while managing Singida Black Stars, he won the CECAFA Cup and led the team to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in their history.
Tanzania has been placed in Group C at the AFCON finals, alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda.
