Yanga fans’ hopes of seeing striker Clement Mzize feature in the recent CAF Champions League tie against Silver Strikers were dashed after the forward picked up an injury a day before the match.
Despite missing the attacker, Yanga still advanced to the group stage after a 2–0 victory, with goals from Dickson Job and Pacome Zouzoua.
Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, confirmed that Mzize aggravated a previous injury and will now undergo further medical tests to determine the extent of the problem.
“Clement Mzize is going for additional scans to determine the severity of his injury. He unfortunately re-injured himself in training. Once the assessment is complete, our doctors will give a full report,” said Kamwe.
In a separate update, Kamwe announced the structure of the Yanga technical bench, confirming that head coach Pedro Goncalves will lead the staff, assisted by Philipe Pedro and Patrick Mabedi.
