Despite confirming that coach Patrick Mabedi will lead Yanga in the CAF Champions League group stage playoff against Silver Strikers, the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, says the search for a new head coach is still ongoing.
Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Kamwe said that within the next three days Yanga could announce the new head coach who will replace Romain Folz, who was dismissed after losing the first leg to Silver Strikers last week.
“Many of you have been asking me about the new coach. Let me inform you that Yanga’s leadership is in an advanced process of getting a new coach and within these three days this process will be completed.”
“Therefore, our match on the 25th will be led by our caretaker Patrick Mabedi, and we have no doubt about him as we believe in his ability and his CV,” Kamwe said.
Speaking about preparations for the match, Kamwe said Yanga entered camp today and confirmed that striker Clement Mzize has recovered from injury and may be available for Saturday’s match.
“Our squad entered camp today at 12 noon and continues preparations for our October 25 match against Malawi’s Silver Strikers. Regarding Clement Mzize, we have already announced that he is fit and if the coach is pleased, he will be part of our squad on the 25th,” said Kamwe.
