Yanga started poorly in the first-leg CAF Champions League group-stage qualifier, suffering a 1–0 defeat to Silver Strikers in Malawi.
A second-half goal from Yosefe sank Yanga, who began the match at a slow tempo and created very few attacking chances against their hosts.
Yanga responded after conceding, but it was too late to find an equaliser as Silver Strikers used every tactic — including time-wasting — to protect their narrow home advantage.
Yanga now have 90 minutes at home to overturn the result, needing at least a 2–0 victory to reach the group stage.
The second leg on October 25 is clearly a **do-or-die** match for the Tanzanian champions.
