Yanga SC striker Clement Mzize will be out of action for between three to four weeks after sustaining a knee injury recently.
Mzize, who scored 14 goals in the Mainland Premier League last season, picked up the injury during Yanga’s 3-0 victory over Wiliete SC of Angola in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The club’s doctor, Moses Etutu, confirmed that there is strong hope the forward will be fit to return after the FIFA international break.
His absence has also dealt a blow to the national team, Taifa Stars, who are preparing for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia on October 8 at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar. Head coach Hemed Suleiman ‘Morocco’ has had to leave Mzize out of the squad due to the injury.
So far this season, Mzize has featured for Yanga in two games — the Community Shield against Simba and the Champions League tie against Wiliete SC.
