Yanga attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua has expressed gratitude to the club after receiving a call-up to the Ivory Coast national team ahead of two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Seychelles and Kenya.
Pacome is the only player based in Africa included in the Ivory Coast squad, which is otherwise filled with stars playing in Europe and Asia.
He was first called up in the 2023/24 season but was unable to feature due to injury. This time, however, he joins the squad fully fit and may get his chance to play.
“I am very happy to be called to play for the Ivory Coast national team in the World Cup qualifiers. I want to sincerely thank Yanga fans, the President, and the entire technical bench for their outstanding support,” Pacome said.
“I will be representing the great club Yanga, and I am proud of this opportunity. Thank you so much to the fans for always supporting me.”
Interestingly, in the match against Kenya, Pacome will face off against his Yanga teammate Duke Abuya, who has been included in Bennie McCarthy’s Harambee Stars squad.
