Yanga attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua was part of the squad that defeated Angola’s Wiliete Banguela 3-0 last weekend in the CAF Champions League first leg.
Pacome has sent a strong message to rival teams set to face the Tanzanian giants in all competitions.
The star, who has scored against Simba three times in different tournaments, said that with the current Yanga squad, he believes they have what it takes to win any competition if they stay focused.
Now in his third season with Yanga since joining from Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas, Pacome has built an impressive record with 19 goals and 14 assists in the past two Premier League campaigns.
“Even the coach we have is excellent — he wants winning football, attacking especially when we have the ball, but also discipline when we don’t,” said Pacome, who was once tipped as Player of the Year, though last season’s awards mysteriously never materialized.
“It will be difficult for us to miss out on trophies this season because of the quality we have. Of course, our rivals are also well prepared, but we still believe we can change the game at any moment.”
This season, Pacome is determined to maintain his sharp form and perform even better than in previous campaigns.
“Although I started well by scoring against Simba, that doesn’t make me feel superior. I’m still fighting to ensure the team achieves its goals. I believe God will help us have a good season, both for the team and for me, because we’ve started strongly and we don’t want to let the coach down by failing to follow his instructions,” he added.
