Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Romain Folz says his team is ready for their CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg tie against Wiliete SC, despite the challenge of a tight schedule. The match is set for Friday at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola.
Yanga arrived in Luanda on Wednesday, leaving them with just one training session ahead of the crucial fixture. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Folz admitted the schedule is demanding but maintained it cannot be an excuse.
“It’s true we have a tough schedule, but that’s no reason to complain. We must prepare ourselves with the calendar in mind because that’s what we’ll face all season,” said Folz. “We have a deep squad, everyone is ready, and we will rotate according to the needs of each match.”
On Friday’s tie, Folz noted that his side is determined to get a positive result even though they are facing an opponent he doesn’t know very well. “Our approach won’t change whether we play at home or away in this competition. The main objective is to secure good results and put ourselves in a strong position to advance to the next stage.”
