After scoring the only winning goal in the Mwananchi Day climax match against Bandari FC the day before yesterday, Yanga’s attacking midfielder, Ecua Celestin, is determined to maintain his sharp form in the upcoming match against Simba.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 16, Yanga and Simba will face off in the Community Shield match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Ecua, who has been nicknamed “Duduwasha,” said his mission is to bring joy to Yanga fans by scoring goals whenever he gets the chance.
He thanked the fans who turned out in large numbers during the Mwananchi Day celebrations, while revealing that he had wished to play the full 90 minutes but understood it was a match in which every player deserved playing time.
“I wanted to ask the coach to let me stay on the pitch, but I saw the importance of my teammates also playing. Luckily, I had already scored in my first game in front of the fans,” he said.
“I want to keep scoring, and now I want to score in the next match too, to continue the joy of Yanga fans who have shown so much love for the team,” Ecua added.
Ecua has scored three goals for Yanga in all the friendly matches played during the pre-season.
Undoubtedly, coach Romain Folz is expected to include him in the starting lineup against Simba tomorrow, where he will likely link up with other stars including Pacome Zouzoua.
