The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed the venue for the first-leg preliminary round match of the CAF Champions League between Wiliete Benguela and Yanga, scheduled for September 19.
Initially, Yanga was expected to kick off its Champions League campaign with an away match against Angola’s Wiliete Benguela in Benguela City on September 19. However, according to information from within the club, CAF has moved the match to Luanda, the Angolan capital.
This decision comes as a relief for Yanga, as the team would have been forced to travel more than eight hours by road from Luanda to Benguela, or at least an hour by air.
“We have received a huge relief. Now the game will take place in Luanda instead of Benguela, where we would have had to figure out another way to get there. This is an advantage for us,” the source said.
According to the schedule, the first-leg match will be played on September 19 at 6:00 PM, while the return leg will be staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on September 27 at 4:00 PM.
Before that clash, Yanga faces their arch-rivals Simba in the Community Shield match, set for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 16, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
