After tomorrow’s Community Shield showdown against Simba, Young Africans (Yanga) will jet out of the country for their first-leg CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Wiliete Benguela of Angola.
The match is scheduled for September 19 at 6 PM local time at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda. This gives Yanga just three days to regroup after the derby before heading into continental action — a true test of squad depth and endurance.
Speaking three days ago in a press conference ahead of the Wiki ya Mwananchi climax match against Bandari FC, head coach Romain Folz emphasized that he has been preparing his squad to handle a congested fixture list, which will be a defining feature of their season.
Following the Angola trip, Yanga will return home to kick off their NBC Premier League campaign against Pamba Jiji on September 24, before playing the decisive return leg against Wiliete just three days later.
