Speaking to the media yesterday, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, hinted that today at the climax of *Wiki ya Mwananchi*, fans should expect to see all their key stars on the pitch.
There had been concerns over scheduling, with just four days separating the Bandari FC match and the Community Shield derby against Simba on September 16 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Kamwe stressed that Yanga have a strong squad and will not deny their fans the full entertainment they deserve out of fear of the upcoming clash with Simba.
“I assure you, you’ll see the same Yanga — we fear no one. We’ll field our full squad and play with the same hunger and energy to quench the fans’ thirst for entertainment,” said Kamwe.
“It makes no sense to always praise the likes of Mohamed Doumbia and then have the fans come to the stadium and not see them. That won’t happen,” he added confidently.
His remarks were reinforced by Yanga head coach Romain Folz, who said the Bandari FC game would not affect preparations, as the squad is ready to handle a congested fixture list.
“Looking at the schedule, we will be playing matches every three or four days. After the Bandari FC match, we still have four days before facing Simba,” said Folz.
“I don’t think it will be a challenge, because this season we are fully prepared to play under such conditions.”
Bandari FC can therefore expect to face Yanga’s full-strength squad — “all guns blazing” — especially in the opening 20 minutes, before Folz rotates players to give everyone a chance on this special day for the “Wananchi.”
