Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has declared that the 3-1 victory they secured in Rwanda to lift the Rayon Day Cup is proof of the strength of their squad.
Kamwe said that despite only training for about 10 days, they managed a 3-1 win against Rayon Sports, a club with a rich history in Rwanda.
“Let me tell Yanga fans and members, what you saw in the match against Rayon Sports was built in just 10 days. It has never happened anywhere in the world for a team to have only 10 days of pre-season and then display that level of performance,” said Kamwe.
“Normally in the early weeks of pre-season you work on players’ fitness, but look at the quality we showed against Rayon. The players had just come together, yet each of them displayed his ability,” he added.
“The coach still has work to do to build chemistry, but once everything clicks, it will be dangerous. Fans and members of Yanga, let’s not talk too much, let’s stay calm as things are being prepared — but I assure you, someone will be forced to drink from this cup,” Kamwe boasted.
In another remark, Kamwe bragged that not every team can win pre-season matches the way Yanga does.
He also took a jab at rivals Simba after their 4-3 defeat to ENPPI in a friendly in Egypt yesterday, where the club’s officials tried to conceal the result of a match witnessed by Tanzania’s ambassador in Egypt.
“The one hiding his nakedness has already started ordering mangoes,” Kamwe wrote on his social media page.
