Tanzanian champions Yanga SC have arrived in Rwanda ahead of their much-anticipated friendly match against Rayon Sports, scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium. The game will mark the first appearance for new head coach Romain Folz since taking charge of the team.
Earlier today, Yanga’s management, technical bench, and players paid a courtesy visit to Tanzania’s Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E. Dr. Habib Kambanga, to introduce themselves. The visit formed part of the club’s official engagements in the build-up to the match.
Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said the team received an extraordinary welcome upon arrival in Kigali — a reception that impressed both Coach Folz and the new signings. “It was a powerful message to show them just how big Yanga is,” Kamwe noted.
According to Kamwe, most of the preparations under Folz so far have focused on improving the squad’s physical fitness, with tactical work making up about 25% of the sessions. “Our players are ready to fight and give joy to our fans here in Rwanda and back home in Tanzania,” he added.
Looking beyond tomorrow’s clash, Kamwe explained that the team will return to Dar es Salaam to complete their pre-season program. Despite earlier speculation about an overseas training camp, Yanga are now expected to finish their preparations in Tanzania.
