Yanga’s Head of Media and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has opened up about the club’s new tactical vision ahead of the upcoming Tanzania Premier League season.
Kamwe stated that this season’s signings were made to align with the tactical demands of new head coach Romain Folz, who is introducing a new playing style aimed at completely transforming Yanga’s approach.
He emphasized that the midfielders signed this season were specifically selected for their versatility and ability to play multiple roles on the pitch.
"All of Yanga’s midfielders for the upcoming season can play anywhere in the midfield. Take Mudathir, for example—he can play as a number 6, 8, or even 10. The same goes for Duke Abuya and Balla Conte; they’re all capable of adapting to different positions," Kamwe explained.
He likened Yanga’s new playing style to the synchronized movement of car pistons and the midfield dynamics of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG):
"Have you ever seen how pistons work in a car engine, or watched PSG play in midfield? That’s how Yanga will operate next season," he added confidently.
Kamwe revealed that Coach Folz’s system will involve constant role-switching among players, making Yanga’s tactics unpredictable to opponents.
"Our coach is implementing a system where players will frequently swap roles—sometimes a defensive midfielder will move forward to play as a number 10, while the attacking midfielder drops back to defend," he stressed.
Yanga is expected to officially begin pre-season preparations later this week, with players continuing to arrive in Dar es Salaam.
Kamwe confirmed that the full squad unveiling will be completed by July 31, and that the team will travel to Rwanda on August 13 to participate in Rayon Sports Day, where they will play a friendly match against Rayon Sports at Amahoro Stadium on August 15.
