Midfielder Mohammed Doumbia, who is reportedly being signed by Yanga in the current transfer window, had been out of action for over a year.
The player, who previously played for FC Majestic in Burkina Faso and Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic, had been sidelined due to a major dispute with his management.
His potential move to Yanga was facilitated by Stephanie Aziz Ki, who, while negotiating a move to Wydad, told Yanga president Engineer Hersi Said about Doumbia’s quality—despite his long absence from the pitch.
After receiving the recommendation, Hersi reached out to the player and arranged for his travel to Dar es Salaam.
Doumbia was warmly received, and coincidentally arrived on a day when the club had an evening training session at Avic Town.
He was given a chance to train with the team at Avic Town, and that’s where his signing story began.
His performance in training impressed not only then-head coach Miloud Hamdi, but also his teammates, who recommended that he be signed.
Doumbia is a versatile midfielder capable of playing as a number 6, 8, or even 10.
He has been compared to former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré due to his strength, speed, and skill on the ball.
