Former Yanga chairman Dr. Mshindo Msolla is among the candidates who have expressed interest in running for the position of President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) in the upcoming election scheduled for August 16 in Tanga.
Although he returned his nomination forms on time, Dr. Msolla has also raised complaints about not receiving sponsorship (endorsement), a concern shared by other candidates as well.
He stated that he is waiting for the decision of the Election Committee and, if dissatisfied, he will take further steps through the appropriate channels.
"After the Election Committee announced the process, I decided to pick up the forms because I believed I met all the required qualifications — I have played, coached, and managed football," he said.
"I did my part by filling out the form and paying the TSh 50,000 fee, but the biggest challenge I faced was that I didn’t get the opportunity for endorsement," he added.
"Every time I tried, I was told that the endorsement process had already ended. But if we were all given five days, how did some candidates manage to get endorsements from everywhere?"
"The truth is, those endorsements were done outside the official election period — that’s not right. Being denied the chance to get a sponsor is wrong, it’s sabotage."
"Football belongs to everyone, not just one person. I am not satisfied with the actions taken by the current leader. The rules allow a candidate to have at least five endorsers, so how come he has 46? What’s his intention? If he has done a good job, he should have waited for us at the ballot box so justice can be done."
"Personally, I’m waiting for the Election Committee to release their decision, and then we’ll consider what next steps to take to ensure we get our rightful opportunity," said Dr. Msolla.
